A few weeks ago, Pirurvik Preschool travelled from Pond Inlet (Mittimatalik) to Montreal (Tiohtia:ke) to attend the Nourishing Futures Forum.

We gathered with over 500 food educators, advocates, researchers and community leaders who share a deep commitment to food sovereignty, traditional foodways, growing food to strengthen food security, and providing nourishing, culturally diverse food for children in schools.

We were immensely grateful to visit Kahnawa:ke, and spend the day taking a journey to the heart of Indigenous food knowledge and food sovereignty. It was a deeply meaningful experience of sharing, connecting and remembering. Tkà:nios- it Grows

We also had the honour of sharing our own perspective of Indigenous food sovereignty in the high Arctic, and share a glimpse of the educational curriculum we will soon have underway in our community.

Food is health. Food is culture. Food is education. Food is relationships.

The connections we made were heart- warming and deeply meaningful. We left inspired, emboldened, supported, and renewed.
